February Challenge:
#14 Shadows and peace; color
Medium: Chalk pastel on suede board
Size 8x10
This piece is of the sunset through the airplane window and the color reflection on to the seat. This piece really stretch me as an artist because I have never created a piece using chalk pastel before and as it turns out I really like this medium. This photo is also very peaceful because the colors of the sky are very vibrant, while at the same time being soft.

February Challenge:
#13 Cubism; pen, marker
Medium: pen and ink and marker
Size: 6.75x5x7.75
I like the bold colors in this piece and the disorderly pattern of shapes. I'm glad I was assigned this piece because I now realized I could add some cubism pieces to my concentration.

February Challenge:
#12 Family member; texture
Medium: Photo
This singular is a mash up of to photos. One photo of my mom's hair, and the other of my sister's hair. I edited these two photos so that my mom's hair fades/changes into my sister's hair. This piece represents the the fade/change into the new generation and how physical traits can be both similar and different from mother to daughter. This piece also amplifies the texture of hair.

February Challenge:
#11 Voyeurism; point of view
Medium: Photo
The jeans captured in this photo are a representation of the sexual act of getting undressed. "Lucky You" is the quote that lies on the inside of the zipper and adds to the sexuality. The lace underwear symbolizes the model's dark desires.

February Challenge:
#10 Temptation, movement; paint
Medium: acrylic paint
Size: 8x10
I really stretched myself in this piece by using a palette knife. I was inspired to do this piece because teenagers are constantly tempted by drugs. I really like the movement of the smoke as well.

February Challenge:
#9 Needs, creative lighting; photo
Medium: Photo
Without the sun, human life would not be possible. We need the sun in order to survive. We "consume" the sun not just from our daily vitamin D, but we also use it as a natural energy source. I really like this photo because it really depicts the idea of human's need for the sun. I also like how the rays spread out across the shadowy figure.
